IFTS is a Festival of Theatre Schools provides a space to meet students, faculty, practitioners, and renowned scholars to share and acquire knowledge on pedagogy theatre and its allied or transdisciplinary area. National and International theatre schools will be part of the festival, which provides a cross-cultural platform. A theatre school or institution can participate festival with a delegating team of a maximum of two faculty and a maximum of ten students. The school should present a Student Production or Demonstration or Academic Project Presentation or Open Class at the festival, with the delegating team and must present the pedagogical paper in relation to the concept of the festival ‘Carnival of Pedagogy:Theatre and Health'.
The delegated team will be chosen to facilitate the performance of student production, attend workshops/classes, and present the paper/s.
Information for Institutional Delegation
• The institution should provide the following details: website address, physical location, mailing address, and contact information.
• Include the full name, position, email address, and contact number of the person leading your team in the festival.
• We encourage each school to create a short (e.g., 3-minute) video or film that introduces your school and program. This video can consist of still photographs or tourist material to familiarize international students/staff with your country and region. Students are encouraged to create this film, and while it should be enjoyable to make, please remember that its purpose is to enhance the student's educational experience.
• We aim to screen this film before your school's performance. The film doesn't need to include text, but please include music from your country, its songs, and its instruments.
• We encourage each participating school to have a positive attitude towards learning from each other by watching other schools' performances and attending presentation sessions.
• Material about your school and its production will be included in the Festival Programme book, so there is no need to bring any printed material about the production or your school.
• Please understand that participant photos may be published in festival programs and other official publications and that photos and videos will be taken during the festival.
• IFTS will provide food, accommodation*, local transportation, and pickup and drop-off services from the nearest airport or railway station.
• Please make sure you meet the registration and documents/materials/paper submission deadlines.
Information for Pedagogy Presentation / Student production
• We encourage to pedagogy presentation - a demonstration, an open class, or an Academic Project Presentation on performance training or trans disciplinary theatre or performance making
• Alternatively may bring in shows directed, designed, and performed by students themselves, either under the guidance of teachers or as a school production which more appropriate to the concept of the festival.
• Preferably, the duration of the show should be 30 minutes, with a maximum of 40 minutes.
• Submit a synopsis, technical rider and a director's note for the play.
• You may share a video recording of the play on any online platform, such as YouTube.
• If needed, provide subtitles for your production. If translating the text is necessary, you can choose any language, but we recommend using English for broader accessibility. Technical support, including a laptop, PC, projector, and staff, will be provided for projection, either above or beside the action.
• We will offer basic sound, basic light support, and minimal costume and property support.
• Please prepare information and material for publicity, such as a video promo or clip to introduce the production via YouTube. Student creations are encouraged.
• Teams should bring their own materials, including costumes, props, sound and music cues, special effects, or special lights (e.g., battery torches).
• The selection of student production will be subject to the technological and resource feasibility, based on the submitted requirements and the quality of the production.
• Regarding performance copyright issues, participants should obtain the necessary license from the copyright owner in advance. • We have several possible performance spaces for you to choose from, and if you require an alternative space within the campus for your performance, you can negotiate. Information for Paper Presentation
• We recommend submitting a paper on the theme 'Carnival of Pedagogy: Theatre and Health.'
• Please include a 300-word synopsis with your registration.
• Submit the full paper upon receiving selection confirmation.
• Kindly provide a brief biography of the presenter/author, no more than 80 words.
• Ensure a high-definition photo of the presenter/author (file size larger than 1 MB, 300 dpi or higher) is included.
• Videos or PowerPoint presentations may be sent in advance; please also keep a backup.
• The paper's length should fall within the range of 5000 to 7000 words.
• Each presenter should allocate 15-20 minutes for their paper presentation.
• The full paper should be in 12-point Font, New Roman font style, and APA reference format.
• Information about the author and the paper will be included in the festival book.
• The paper selection process will involve a blind review.
• Please keep your submissions succinct; if necessary, we will edit them in consultation with you. To ensure each school receives equal space.
• Send the abstract and full paper as attachments in advance.
Information for students' talent Presentation
• Originality and Creativity: The work should be original, showcasing the student’s unique artistic expression, imagination, and innovation.
• Relevance to Theme: The presentation must relate to the central theme or objectives of the event or festival.
• Quality and Skill: Selection will be based on artistic quality, technical proficiency, and depth of understanding in the chosen medium.
• Feasibility and Presentation Readiness: The work should be suitable for presentation within the available time, space, and technical facilities.
• Diversity and Inclusion: Efforts will be made to ensure representation of diverse art forms, cultural identities, and creative perspectives.
